Looking forward to this, the Delivery
The logistics leading up to the delivery were perfect. The 16th was predicted at the time of order. A 2 PM to 4 PM window was established and it was hit on target.
When I saw the truck out front, I went out the front door to talk with the delivery crew. I told the lead that we had cleared a path through the back family room and sliding door if he would like that rather than the bi-level steps and front porch steps. He wasn't sure, but then set about checking the order.
His first reaction to the paperwork was that something was wrong. He wasn't happy with the two twin XL's that he had with the mattress. When I was able to get a word in, I explained that a king bed required the two long twins and he was ultimately satisfied.

But then the bad news came. The mattress was damaged. There was a long gash in the bottom of the mattress. Now, not sure about you, but for a $5,000 purchase that is going to be with us for a long time, I was certainly disappointed.
It wasn't exactly clear who the driver worked for directly. He said he was Sears and was going to call his boss at Sears to get some directions. But he also said that he delivered for other companies like Costco, and that he would not allow me to talk to his boss. The driver recommended that I accept the delivery and argue with Sears after the fact. This didn't seem to be where I wanted to be. I suggested he leave the base so I could put my old mattress on it (we had taken everything apart to make the delivery easier). He wouldn't do that so he packed up. |
All we could do then was to call Sears and see what we should do next.
