Wow, I am thrilled with my new bed!!
They finished installing my new Serta ISeries Merit Super PillowTop and the Serta Motion Signature Twin XL Adjustable Foundations.
The installation crew was top notch, and the product is wonderful. We are very pleased.

But one thing is for sure, I'll not ever go through Sears again. It's just not worth the brain damage
So we're in our 70's. That doesn't stop us from taking Taekwondo lessons, reading books on our Kindle, using PC's, iPhones' and iPads.
But at the same time we have a connection with our past. Sears is part of that past so after doing some initial web research, we determined the product we wanted, and found that Sears carries it. We can be among the small population that studies online and buys brick-and-mortar. Sounded good.
But if anything goes wrong, and maybe only if something goes wrong, the experience turns quickly. You can read the whole story as journaled in the rest of this site by hitting "The Whole Story" button at the bottom of this page.

The short story is that once we decided to work with a real Sears store, the little nagging events strung out...
- We decide to go to the "big" Sears on the south of town to see the bed, or more specifically the motorized foundation
- The mattress specialist said they never could get it to work
- They called the smaller store near our house and found they had one, but they couldn't get it to work either.
- We were directed to a store in the adjacent city to the north of Denver where they had one that worked
- After 15 minutes in the north store we got the right sales person who knew how to make it work and we saw the foundation in action. (We decided at that moment to 'think about it'.
- A couple of days later we went to the store nearest us to actually place a $5,000 order
- Done, we get it next Friday
- Friday morning we disassemble our bed and make room for the new
- Delivered at the appointed time
- Driver is concerned he doesn't have the right shipment but it turns out that when I tell him that the king bed has two XL twins for foundation, he's OK with that
- Pulls the mattress out and it ripped (picture in the story)
- He wants us to take the order and deal with Sears after the fact, I don't agree
- He takes everything back
- With my bed apart, I'd like a new one as fast as possible
- Talk (kind of) with a person I have trouble understanding from a country that she is not allowed to mention and using only her first name
- Sears doesn't stock the mattress, this is going back to the manufacturer
- Next Friday is the day
- My online order inquiry changes, no one knows why
- I try to "chat" but after a while the chat person says, "Oh, I can't handle in-store orders"
- I search the Sears site looking for someone that I might actually talk to
- I get to International and send an email and ask them to look at my story
- I get a response but not anyone high enough up to be allowed to use a last name
- The respondent does not look at my story but directs me to the web site for help
- Next they want my phone number and address as if I'm not a customer at all, one that has provided that information and more in the context of this encounter.
- "Sears Holdings" doesn't deal with real individuals. Play by their game plan, their scenarios or don't play.
- It's easy not to need Sears.
