This story is meant to help communicate with Sears
It is my firm belief that when I have a problem with a company, most definitely with one I have had respect for, it is imperative that I communicate the problem. In my own dealings, I pray that if someone has a serious problem with me, they tell me.
I used to love Sears
Centered around Craftsman tools and all our appliances, I loved Sears. That was Sears then. Sears now is a different story.
We need a new bed
It's going to be just like the one our son and daughter-in-law researched and bought. They love it. Its a King Serta iSeries Merit Super PillowTop on two Serta Motion Signature Twin XL Foundation. (You need two twin XL's under a king mattress.)
The investigation is on
The bed isn't hard to find but two locations stood out. It turns out we are going to spend about $5,000, but this will be our last bed. We can get it at Sam's on-line and we can get it at Sears. We decided to go to Sears so we could see the motion base in action. For that we decided to skip our nearby Lakewood store and go the Southwest Plaza, a much bigger Sears.

It took a while for us to have a salesperson paged to help us in the mattress department. But a young man ultimately came who seemed to know the department well. We asked him to demonstrate the Motion Signature Foundation. "Well, I don't think it works." He got an extension cord and hooked it up and tried the remote, fiddle around a while, and then said that it surely didn't work.
He was nice enough to see what other stores had the Foundation. The store close to our house, the Lakewood store had one but with a phone call it was determined that it didn't work either. But the Thornton store not only had it but it worked

The next weekend we headed to Thornton. This is a huge store with not too many support staff. We found the Foundation but had to chase a clerk down who was moving fast toward the office. She paged for someone to come to the mattress department for us. After a while we found a man who had heard the page and wondered if anyone had come. We told him not so he phoned around and finally reported that the only person that could help us on this particular Saturday morning was in the restroom and would be with us soon. He did report, and was in fact a gentleman.
This Foundation worked. We received cordial service and our salesman was able to answer most of our questions between his knowledge and the support documentation he had. We decide that yes this is what we wanted and we decided that rather than mail order from Sam's, we wanted to deal with real humans - Sears.

So we went to our closest store, one where the Foundation didn't operate, but where we could order the mattress and Foundation.
